Who it is for
New to CHAMPVA
You just enrolled, or you are about to. The handbook walks through who qualifies, how to apply, and what changes your eligibility, so nothing lapses by surprise.
Staring at a bill or an EOB
You are not sure what you owe. The EOB chapter explains each line, and the bill check worksheet shows you how to test the amount.
Turning 65, or helping a parent
Medicare and CHAMPVA fit together in a set order. The Medicare chapter gives the checklist, including what to send the VA and when.

A look inside

Why not just use the VA's guidebook?
You can, and you should keep it. The VA gives its CHAMPVA Guidebook away free at va.gov, and it is the source for most of this kit. It is also about 70 pages written in program language, and it is not built around what to say on the phone, how to check a bill, or what order to do things in. The kit is.

Common questions
What exactly do I get?
A 35 page PDF. Twelve handbook chapters (who qualifies, enrolling, finding a doctor, how costs work, reading an EOB, claims and deadlines, denied claims, Medicare at 65, Meds by Mail, supplements, a quick reference and the sources) and seven printable pages (a doctor's office billing sheet, a call center phone script, a provider call log, a claim tracker, a bill check worksheet, sample letters and a supplement worksheet). You download it right after paying, and we email you the link.
Is this the same as the VA's CHAMPVA Guidebook?
No. The VA's Guidebook is free at va.gov and every fact in this kit comes from it and from va.gov CHAMPVA pages. The kit puts the facts in the order you need them and adds pages to print and fill in. If you like the Guidebook, keep it too. The last chapter lists every source with the date it was checked.
How current is it?
It was updated in October 2026 and checked against VA sources on October 21, 2026. Rules, numbers and addresses can change, so the kit tells you where to confirm them with the VA.
Is it a subscription?
No. It is one payment of $19 for the PDF.
Can you help me with my claim or fill out my forms?
No. This is education about a federal program. It is general information, not legal advice. We are not lawyers and do not file anything for you, and we do not give a personal claim plan. The sample letters are samples you fill in and send yourself.
What if I lose the link?
Enter the email you paid with in the box on this page and we will send the link to that address.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, it is a standard PDF. The worksheets are made for ordinary Letter paper, so print them at 100 percent.
Is my payment safe?
Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
